ये वादियां ये फ़िज़ाएं बुला रही हैं तुम्हे, खामोशियों की सदाएं बुला रही हैं तुम्हे। जी हां, गाना काफी पुराना है मगर कभी मैदानी गरमी से तो कभी शहरी जिंदगी की भागमभाग जिंदगी से उकताए लोगों के लोगों के लिए ख़ासा प्रासंगिक है। यहां की वादियां तथा फिजाएं यायावरों को यहां आने को जैसे आमंत्रित करती हैं। ग्लोबल वार्मिंग से अब पहाड़ों की आबोहवा भी खासी बदली है। जिले के पहाड़ी स्थलों में भी गर्मी का पारा चढ़ा है। यही वजह है कि मिनी स्विटज़रलैंड कहलाने वाले खज्जियार में गरमियों में काफी सैलानी उमड़ते हैं। वहीं स्नो फाल तथा न्यू ईयर के वक़्त भी यहां काफी सैलानी पहुंचते हैं।
जीवंत हो उठी किसी कलाकार की कृति की मानिंद सुंदर तथा अटल सुंदरता और देवदार के विशाल दरख्तों से शिंगारित खज्जियार सदियों से यायावरों को राहत दे रहा है। यहां के स्थानीय लोगों की अगाध आस्था के प्रतीक खज्जी नाग मंदिर के नाम से विख्यात इस पर्यटक स्थल का विश्व के पर्यटन मानचित्र पर अपना भी रुतबा है। मैदानी क्षेत्रों में शरीर को तपाती गर्मी के चलते पर्यटक यहां उमड़ते हैं जिससे ट्रैफिक जाम जैसी स्थिति पैदा हो जाती है। स्विटज़रलैंड जैसी खूबसूरती संजोए दुनिया के बेहतरीन 160 पर्यटन स्थलों में शुमार खज्जियार पर्यटकों से गुलज़ार है। स्विट्ज़रलैंड के राजदूत ने 1992 में खज्जियार की खूबसूरती को देख कर इसे मिनी स्विटज़रलैंड की उपाधि दी थी। दुनिया में खज्जियार समेत कुल 160 मिनी स्विटज़रलैंड हैं। खज्जियार तथा विख्यात पर्यटन नगरी डलहौज़ी के बीच स्थित ‘कालटोप वन्य जीव अभ्यारण्य’ भी पर्यटकों को राहत दे रहा है। खज्जियार हिमाचल प्रदेश की चंबा वैली में स्थित एक मनमोहक पहाड़ी स्थान है। चीड़ और देवदार के ऊंचे-लंबे, हरे-भरे पेड़ों के बीच बसा खज्जियार दयहाँ आकर पर्यटकों को आत्मिक शांति और मानसिक सुकून मिलता है। यदि अप्रैल के बाद मई-जून की झुलसाने वाली गर्मी से छुटकारा पाना हो तो यह स्थान पर्यटकों के लिए बिलकुल राहत जैसा ही है। खज्जियार के मौसम में एक अलग ही मस्ती है, नजारों में अलग ही सौंदर्य है। यही कारण है कि आस-पास के लोग तो यहाँ पिकनिक मनाने के लिए आ ही जाते हैं, दूर-दूर से बार-बार आने वाले पर्यटकों की संख्या भी कम नहीं है। आप अगर खज्जियार आएं तो घोड़े की सवारी बिलकुल न भूलें। बादल, सुल्तान, तूफान, चेतक, राजा और रेशमा सरीखे नामों वाले घोड़े यहां आपको कुदरती नजारों के बीचोंबीच गुजरने का अद्भुत रोमांच देंगे जो आप ताउम्र न भूल पाएंगे। चुवाड़ी क्षेत्र से संबंधित रिंकू कई साल से यहां पर्यटकों को घोड़े की सवारी करवाकर अपनी आजीविका अर्जित कर रहे हैं। इसके अलावा रोलिंग बॉल तथा खज्जियार के विशाल हरियल मैदान में पैराग्लाइडिंग करने का भी अपना रोमांच है। खास बात यह कि प्रतिबंधित होने के बावजूद यहां के पहाड़ों पर पैराग्लाइडिंग जारी है। इसके अलावा चुवाड़ी जोत के रास्ते भी काफी सैलानी खज्जियार पहुँचते हैं। लिहाज़ा मैदानी क्षेत्रों में गर्मी के चढ़ते पारे तो कभी बर्फ की सफेदी के दीदार को पर्यटक मिनी स्विट्ज़रलैंड में उमड़ते हैं।
