जिला मुख्यालय के साथ लगते बाड़ी गुमाणू के जंगल में 64 वर्षीय व्यक्ति की खुद की बंदूक से ही गोली चलने से मौत हो गई है। मृतक की पहचान जोगिंद्रपाल पुत्र स्व. दिलू राम गांव बनानू तहसील सदर में रूप में हुई। उन्होंने कहा कि दोपहर करीब 3 बजे हादसे की सूचना लोगों ने पुलिस थाना मंडी को दी तथा सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस मौके पर पहुंची और सड़क से ऊपर बनानू के पास एक पहाड़ी पर जोगिंद्रपाल की लाश पड़ी हुई पाई गई। लाश के समीप ही टोपीदार बंदूक गिरी थी और पेट और छाती में छर्रे लगे थे। जांच में बंदूक लाइसैंसी निकली है, वहीं यह संभावना जताई जा रही है कि जोगिंद्रपाल के पहाड़ी से गिरने से अचानक बंदूक से गोली चली है। पुलिस ने पोस्टमार्टम के बाद शव परिजनों को सौंप दिया है। मृतक का एक पुत्र पुलिस विभाग में तैनात है।
पुलिस ने मामले में 174 के तहत कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी है। एसपी मंडी शालिनी अग्निहोत्री ने इस घटना की पुष्टि की है।
