जिले के पिरथीपुर गांव में शनिवार देर रात को हुए सड़क हादसे में छुट्टी पर घर आ रहे सैनिक की मौत हो गई। मृतक की पहचान रजत कुमार पुत्र रवि सिंह निवासी गांव डंगोह खुर्द (26) के रूप में हुई है। पुलिस ने शव को पोस्टमार्टम के लिए ऊना अस्पताल भेजा है। जानकारी के अनुसार रजत कुमार राष्ट्रीय राइफल्स (आरआर) जम्मू में तैनात था। वह बुलेट पर घर आ रहा था। उसके साथ पंजाब के नंगल खनोड़ा का युवक भी था। उसे घर छोड़ने के बाद रजत ने रात करीब नौ बजे अपने घर में सूचना दी कि वह आ रहा है। रजत की बाइक अपने घर से आधा किलोमीटर पीछे एक तीखे मोड़ पर पेड़ से जा टकरा गई। इससे उसकी मौके पर ही मौत हो गई। 
रजत की मां बार-बार फोन करती रही, रजत के फोन न उठाने पर बेचैन हो गईं। रविवार सुबह गांव के एक व्यक्ति ने सड़क किनारे खेत में रजत को पड़े देखा। उसने इसकी सूचना पिरथीपुर पंचायत उपप्रधान केवल सिंह, डंगोह खुर्द के उपप्रधान पवन वर्मा और रजत के परिजनों को दी। रजत को दौलतपुर चौक के सरकारी अस्पताल लाया, लेकिन तब तक उसकी मौत हो चुकी थी। 
उधर, सूचना पर पुलिस थाना गगरेट से एएसआई कुलविंदर सिंह, एएसआई कुलदीप सिंह, स्थानीय चौकी से आईओ हेड कांस्टेबल बृज भूषण एवं लकी घटनास्थल पर पहुंचे। एएसआई कुलविंदर सिंह ने बताया कि मृतक रजत कुमार के माथे एवं छाती पर चोट के निशान थे। पोस्टमार्टम के बाद शव परिजनों को सौंपा जाएगा। पुलिस ने केस दर्ज कर कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी है।
